Case study
Designing a shop that guides instead of overwhelms.
Context
Many independent concept stores sell a wide, eclectic range: ceramics next to candles next to stationery. In a physical shop, the owner guides visitors. Online, nobody does.
The problem
When everything is shown at once, the site feels like a cluttered storeroom. Visitors cannot tell what the shop stands for, and they leave before finding what they came for.
Design choices
- One message, one action on the homepage: what the shop is about and a single “Shop the collection” button.
- A focused collection with simple category filters instead of deep menus.
- Product pages that reassure: price, short description, delivery and returns in plain view, then related items from the same category.
- A basket that stays out of the way and is always one tap from the header.
- Mobile first: the same store reflows to two columns and a stacked layout on small screens.
What the demo shows
The full browse-to-basket journey: homepage, filters, product detail, related products, basket and the mobile layout (use the Desktop / Mobile toggle).
What a real version needs
Your products and photography, a real checkout on a platform such as Shopify or WooCommerce, legal pages, and payment and delivery settings for your country.
